According to the World Trade Organisation the yearly real growth of world merchandise exports averaged 8% in 2006 following growth of 6.5% in 2005 and 9.5% in 2004 (Source: www.wto.org). With such rapid growth in global trade and with consolidation creating margin pressure, smaller players need to be more dynamic by delivering higher value services to compete. 

However, increased supply chain complexity and compliance issues, with constantly changing regulations, is throwing up considerable challenges for all those involved in global trade management. How can enterprises best cope with extended and more complex supply chains? What are the key issues and obstacles? Can technology enable businesses to deliver a more dynamic supply network?
